PITCH RAISING AND TUNING
To fine tune a piano that has lost significant tension is often quite futile and its results fleeting. As piano strings vibrate or even sit still for enough time, tension escapes, lowering the number of vibrations per second. The more this occurs, the more the ear-pleasing balance between the strings is lost. "Pitch raising" restores the correct tension before a fine tuning is performed to restore the balance.
KEY AND ACTION REGULATION
